Juvéderm fillers add volume to lips and cheeks and soften lines that are there even when your face is still, such as smile lines. What Juvéderm is
Juvéderm fillers are gels made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule your skin also makes. The gel is modified so it lasts months instead of days. Most Juvéderm products contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine, to make treatment more comfortable. Over time your body breaks the gel down, so results are temporary.

Most people need one syringe for the lips. Cheeks, chin and jawline often need two or more. You’ll get the number and total price at the consultation, before anything is done.
What to expect
We clean and numb the area first. Injection takes about 30 minutes. You’ll see a change right away, with some swelling for a few days; the result settles over about two weeks. How long it lasts depends on the product and area, from about six months for lips to up to two years for cheeks, according to the manufacturer. We check your result at two weeks.
Afterward: avoid touching or pressing the area, heavy exercise and alcohol for about a day. Avoid dental work for two weeks before and after treatment when you can.
Risks
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness and small lumps are common and usually settle within days to two weeks.
A rare but serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel. This can damage skin or, very rarely, affect vision. That’s why injector training and anatomy matter, and why we tell you exactly what to watch for: skin that turns pale, dusky or blotchy, severe pain, or any change in vision. If that happens, call us at once. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed.
Juvéderm isn’t for you if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore in the area, or have a history of severe allergies. Tell us about blood thinners and supplements that increase bruising.

How many syringes will I need? One is typical for lips. Cheeks and jawline usually need more.
Can filler be reversed? Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved.
