During treatment, you may feel a tingling sensation on your face that often lasts up to 10 minutes. In some cases, you may be required to place a cool compress on your skin to ease any stinging sensations that may occur during the peel.
What to expect after a chemical peel
Every chemical peel produces different results, but in most cases, you may experience a physical reaction similar to a sunburn following treatment. The peeling of the outer layer of skin will usually result in redness followed by scaling that could last as little as three days and no more than seven days. Depending on the appearance of your skin and on the severity of your skin problem, your doctor may recommend that you undergo a series of mild peels every four weeks.
