Microneedling, the next big thing in skin rejuvenation, has major impact with minimal effort.
Every once and a while a new aesthetic treatment comes out that really puts the old methods to shame-microneedling is that new aesthetic treatment. The broad scope of skin ailments that microneedling can treat is one of the huge draws to this revolutionary new treatment; the others would be the minimal discomfort and almost immediate results.
Not too bad for a treatment you can do on a lunch break.
The Eclipse Micropen
The Eclipse Micropen skin needling system allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self‐repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin. Skin needling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile Micropen needle head. The procedure is normally completed within 30‐60 minutes depending on the required treatment and anatomical site.
What is Microneedling exactly?
Microneedling, also called CIT (Collagen Induction Therapy), is essentially creating a controlled wound response by utilizing extremely fine needles attached to a cordless device to glide over the treatment area while creating microchannels. Microneedling is aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, skin laxity and scarring. Microneedling also allows powerful serums to be absorbed deeply into the skin and have an even higher efficacy than usual. We use either hyaluronic acid (HA) or growth factor (GF) depending on your desired results, treatment area, and esthetician’s recommendation.
Does Microneedling hurt?
Even though the name implies that the treatment could be painful, we keep your comfort in mind at Rock Creek Wellness, and apply a topical numbing cream before the treatment begins. You may feel a slight pressure or tingling as the esthetician moves the device over your skin, but the pain is minimal-especially compared the results you receive! Most people rate the pain to be between a 1-3 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest level of pain. If at any point you are uncomfortable with the treatment, the esthetician will stop the service and consult with you on how you would like to proceed. We also follow up the treatment with a cooling facemask to help neutralize any redness and help alleviate any discomfort.
What is the downtime?
After the procedure, the skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed. After 3 days most visible erythema will be absolved. Many patients return to work/daily activity after the treatment with no issues.
Microneedling vs. Dermal Rolling
The Micropen offers many advantages over other at home micro needling devices, often called “dermal rollers”. The sloped, or curved, insertion of needles on a rolling fractional device can create damaging trenches in the epidermis leading to more bleeding, pain and longer recovery time. The Eclipse Micropen’s needle depth can be adjusted during the course of the procedure to accommodate different treatment areas, and can easily maneuver around facial contours and delicate features, such as the eyes, nose and mouth. The high speed (8500 rpm) automated needling motion minimizes pain and discomfort, while better promoting an even absorption of topicals, acids and peptides into the skin which enhances overall results. The Eclipse Micropen offers exceptional results, is cost effective, easy to use, and has better precision and control than more expensive or at home treatments. This ground‐breaking technology, combined with low cost disposable tips, makes the Eclipse Micropen a revolutionary breakthrough for beautiful skin.
When will I see results?
Immediately! Most patients leave the office with a “dewy glow” that definitely turns heads. As you heal you will notice an overall smoothness and rejuvenation -an “airbrushed effect” if you will. Optimal results will be achieved after 3-5 treatments, though most patients elect to continue past 5 treatments to maintain their renewed and refreshed appearance. We do offer package deals as the results are most noticeable after 3-4 treatments.
